KATHMANDU, MAR 08 - An aircraft of Indigo Airlines caught fire on the main landing gear shortly
after landing at the Tribhuban
International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon.
The Airbus A320 with call sign IGO 031 and 182
persons on board including six crew members was taxiing at the tarmac when
wheel number 4 of the main landing gear suddenly caught fire . General Manager of TIA Rishikesh
Sharma said that the fire was
immediately doused with the help of a fire engine
stationed at the airport.
The
aircraft had landed at 12:33 pm this afternoon.
One
passenger sustained minor injury while evacuating the plane. No further damage
was caused in the incident.
The plane
had arrived from New Delhi.
The reason behind the fire remains to be ascertained.
