Nepal has lost to Afghanistan in the semifinal match of the ongoing ICC World T20 qualifiers in UAE on Friday, despite ensuring T20 World Cup berth in Bangladesh in 2014.
Nepal batted first and posted a meager target of 91 runs, which Afghanistan chased down in 15 overs at the loss of three wickets only. Nepal's Abinash Karna took two wickets spending 17 runs in three overs.
Earlier, Afghanistan chose to field first after winning the toss. Nepal scored total 90 runs with the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Sharad Vesawkar scored 27 runs, the highest by the team. Gyanendra Malla scored 14 runs while Nepal’s captain Paras Khadka was out after 13 runs.
Afghanistan’s Samiullah Shenwari claimed three wickets while Izatullah Dawlatzai took two wickets against Nepal.
Nepal and Afghanistan both have already qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in March next year.
However, the winner of this match will advance to the final of the Qualifiers. Nepal had lost by nine wickets against Afghanistan in the Group stage match of the tournament earlier.
