Four people were killed when a van carrying pilgrims returning from Pathibhara Temple, a famous pilgrimage site in Taplejung district, met with accident in Jhapa district on Sunday.
The ill-fated van (Me 1 Ja 1137) got trapped between two buses (Me 4 Kha 7561) and (Ba 1 Ja 8674) while trying to overtake at around 4 PM, in Buttabari stretch of East-West highway.
According to Area Police Office Birtamod, the deceased have been identified as Sanjiv Uprety (27) of Durgapur, Jhapa, Jamuna Oli (36) of Anarmani, Sagar Karki (15) and Bhima Karki (48) of 35, Jalthal-8.
Eight more passengers injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at the local hospital.
