A fire incident has set ablaze five houses in Phungling Bazaar, the district headquarters of Taplejung district in east Nepal on Monday.
According to news reports, the fire started from the house of Keshari Maden at Tukre-7 before it engulfed other houses, too.
Along with Maden’s house, the fire has completely destroyed the houses of Prithvi Dhoj Limbu, Dawa Lama, Yogya Patangwa and Bhadra Bokhim.
With the joint effort of police, army and locals, the fire was taken into control in one hour. However, eight more houses had to be dismantled to bring the fire into control, said DSP Govinda Prasad Acharya.
Due to the fire property worth at least 10 million rupees was destroyed, as the inferno raged through shutters that included medical and grocery shops. There is no fire engine and abundance of water in Phungling and therefore, it took time to extinguish the fire, added the news reports, citing locals.
