Govt has made tight security arrangements to ensure free, fair polls: Home Minister


Minister for Home Affairs Madhav Prasad Ghimire has said the government has made tight security arrangements to hold the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections in a free, fair and impartial atmosphere.
Opening a regional seminar on security in Biratnagar on Thursday, Home Minister Ghimire said the government would not let those attempting to foil the election and create obstructions to the election process walk free.
“The government is ready to face any shorts of challenges to ensure a peaceful election,” he said, adding that a reliable ground has been created for fair election.
Nepali people and the political parties are in favour of the election, he said and urged the parties which have decided not to participate in the election, not to carry out any activities that disturb the election process.
He urged the 33 dissenting parties to use their adult franchise and help institutionalise democracy.
"People's supremacy will be established through the election," he added.
The Home Minister called for supportive role from the media people to make the election successful.
Election Commissioner Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav said the Election Commission is ready to defend any sorts of obstructions to conduct free, fair and impartial elections.
All the chief district officers from all 16 districts in the eastern region, chiefs of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Investigation Department and Nepal Army representatives attended the day-long seminar. RSS
