An arrest warrant has been issued for former NFL player Darren
Sharper and his acquaintance, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The 38-year-old is accused of raping two women in New Orleans last
September. Both Sharper and his acquaintance, Erik Nunez, 26, each face
two counts of aggravated rape.
Last week, investigators learned that not one, but two women
were allegedly sexually assaulted by Sharper in the same apartment the
night of September 23rd. New information uncovered also indicates that
Nunez also allegedly raped both women that night at the same location.
Louisiana law states that a person convicted of committing
aggravated rape shall be punished by life imprisonment at hard labor without
benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
The investigation continues and additional arrests are possible.
In all, Sharper is now being investigated in eight cases in five
states on accusations of sexual crimes. Last week, Sharper pleaded not guilty
to charges of allegedly drugging and raping a pair of women he met at a
West Hollywood nightclub.
Sharper was a safety with the Saints, Packers and Vikings. And was
part of the Super Bowl championship team while in New Orleans. Sharper
retired from the game after the 2010 season, having played 14 years in the NFL.
